Kalyx and Sodexo together employ over 3,200 full time staff at 111 different correctional facilities worldwide.
Kalyx is passionate about providing governments and societies across the world with one of the most important protective layers of a safe and civilised society: the secure custody of prisoners and the fundamental belief that they can be reformed whilst serving their sentence and make a valuable contribution to society on their release.
In particular, Kalyx is committed to rolling out it’s expertise in PPP/PFI Correctional projects throughout the world, in partnership with national governments.
Kalyx is also committed to expanding it’s role in operate only contracts including those where custodial services (guarding) are included in the scope of work.
Kalyx works closely with correctional service agencies to design, build and manage prisons, correctional facilities and young offender institutions
Our three primary objectives are to operate these facilities in such a way that we:
● make a direct and quantifiable contribution to reducing the re-offending rates of the offenders in our care;
● provide secure premises in which offenders can complete their sentences; and
● equip the individuals in our care with the capability to make a valuable contribution to society after their release;
Kalyx is a partner that is highly regarded for its know-how, transparency and responsibility in managing correctional facilities. Our philosophy is to provide safety, dignity and opportunity to offenders, our employees and the communities we serve. Recognising the rights and welfare of offenders during their time in a Kalyx facility is a key element of our unique philosophy. We believe that the factors which most affect an offender’s sense of well being are directly related to factors which impact most heavily on rates of reoffending.
As an organisation with a strong Social Purpose, Kalyx will only operate in countries:
● That are democracies
● Where the death penalty is not authorised
● Where our employees are not required to carry arms
● Where the quality of life of offenders is improved by providing opportunities for rehabilitation
