HMP Addiewell
A consortium* led by Kalyx signed a contract in June 2006 with the Scottish Prison Service to design, construct, manage and finance this new 700-place prison for the Scottish Prison Service at Addiewell, near West Calder in West Lothian.
Mr Herb Nahapiet OBE, Chairman of Kalyx said: "We and
our consortium partners have worked closely with the Scottish
Prison Service to produce an operationally-designed prison within
which it will be possible to address offending behaviour and to
contribute to the Scottish Executive's efforts to deliver a safer
Scotland".
The design of HMP Addiewell is modern and compact; incorporates a
number of innovative aspects; and has been constructed to a high
standard of physical security.
Accommodating up to 796 male prisoners, the new prison is on target to open in December 2008.
